The Tampa Bay Storm’s 1996 championship ring is up for auction. The ring is 10-karat gold and it celebrated the Storm’s second consecutive Arena Football victory. It was the final season that the team played games at the celebrated ThunderDome, now referred to as Tropicana Field, in St. Petersburg.
In the victory, Jay Gruden threw four touchdowns for 264 yards, out-dueling Kurt Warner, who’s last pass fell just three yards short of the end zone.
The ring belonged to the Storm’s backup QB, Connell Maynor. Maynor is now a head coach at Hampton University in Virgina. Currently, bidding has reached $1,250.
